From the time I hit the ground Thursday until about noon today I have met some incredible journalists and interesting people who came by No. 401 to try their hand at walking & blogging. I'm not super happy with the navigation of all those windows on the front page, but it's a process still very much in development, so I won't complain too much.
The very last streaming video I posted needs explanation: I took the phone in to a workshop hosted by Native American journalists on how the internet is starting to reach their lives through their young people, and especially through cell phones.
I didn't have much battery, nor would you want to watch a video of a panel discussion, so you only have a snippet from a journalist who works on the Navajo nation. But what I heard is really interesting. They are trying to figure out how to translate for elders, get pdf versions of their print papers out instead of spending postage to mail to their dispersed tribes, and they are welcoming the cell phone technology opening up ways to communicate in places that don't even have phone service.
I'll write more later on all that, because it sounds cool and I want to look up some of the papers from some of the 365 nations that have online news. Once I find a few links & get a better idea of how they work, I'll write again.
